Fertilization & Weed Control
Say goodbye to weeds and hello to a green lawn!
Experience a lawn that's green and healthy!
Superweed
Nutsedge
Nutsedge is often called “nutgrass” because it closely resembles grass.
Why is nutsedge so hard to kill?
This aggressive, persistent weed requires a professional, long-term strategy of both cultural and chemical management. While the visible leaves die back each fall, the underground tubers and rhizomes survive the winter to sprout again each spring. Our targeted treatments tackle these deep roots across Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Texas to stop the cycle for good.
Superweed
Crabgrass
A single weed contains-150,000 seeds and up to 700 Tillers.
Can you get rid of crabgrass in one year?
Massive amounts of crabgrass seed accumulates in soil over time, so complete control is a multi-season process. To successfully combat crabgrass, you need a weed control program paired with proper cultural practices, such as correct mowing heights and deep watering. Our strategy uses pre-emergents to stop seeds from sprouting and post-emergents to tackle the rest.
Say Goodbye to a Weed-Infested Lawn
Why is my lawn full of weeds even after treating it? If you’re tired of the frustration that comes with patchy grass and invasive weeds like crabgrass, nutsedge, or clover, you aren't alone. Stop wasting time and money on "big box" fertilizers and DIY weed controls that just don't deliver results.

What To Expect
Think Green!
We're committed to giving you the best lawn that you've ever had. Let us guide you to happy, healthy grass!
Expert Timing, Zero Guesswork
Why stress over the "right time" to treat your grass? We take the thinking and planning off your plate with perfectly timed applications. Because local turf types like Bermuda, Zoysia, and St. Augustine require specific nutrients at different times, we use seasonally-balanced fertilizers, essential micronutrients, and professional-grade weed control customized for your specific region and soil type.
We don’t just treat lawns; we understand the science of our local climate so you don't have to.
Lawn Fertilization Nutrients
We properly time the applications of nutrients to feed your lawn, so you never have to worry about when and how to fertilize. Our seasonally balanced fertilizer and micronutrient treatments give your lawn exactly what it needs at the exact time of year.
- Nitrogen fertilizer (growth of grass)
- Potassium fertilizer (overall health)
- Granular fertilizer applications
- Liquid fertilizer applications
Weed Prevention& Control
Our pre and post-emergent weed treatments will eliminate the growth and spread of various weeds. Pre-emergents prevent weeds from germinating and growing. Post-emergents are slow-release treatments will take care of the weeds that have popped through to the surface.
- Kill weeds, not your lawn
- High-grade, commercial products
- Includes treatment of nutsedge and crabgrass
Soil pH Conditioners
Whether you’re dealing with the acidic red clay of Georgia and the Carolinas or the alkaline soils of Texas, improper pH levels cause a nutrient lock-up, meaning your grass can't actually absorb the nutrients you give it. At Top Turf, we don't guess; we treat your soil based on your specific regional needs.
- Balance pH level of the soil
- Lime: Neutralize acidic soil (GA, NC, SC, TN)
- Sulfur: Neutralize alkaline soil (TX)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
What types of fertilizers do you use on lawns?
We use a professional-grade blend of macronutrients and micronutrients specifically formulated for Southeastern turf types like Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine, and Tall Fescue–
- Nitrogen Fertilizer: The secret to that deep green "curb appeal" and healthy blade growth.
- Potassium Fertilizer: Think of this as a multivitamin for your lawn’s overall health, helping it survive Texas droughts and Tennessee winters. It works by strengthening the root system so the grass has a true base to grow from.
Our fertilizers are delivered in 2 different ways, depending on the opportune time of year–
- Granular Fertilizer Applications: Designed for slow-release feeding that builds long-term soil health.
- Liquid Fertilizer Applications: Targeted treatments for a quick nutrient boost and immediate absorption.
-
How do you get rid of weeds without killing my grass?
That’s a very common question we hear from our neighbors in Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Texas. The secret is a two-way approach: stopping weeds before they sprout and safely eliminating the ones you can already see. At Top Turf, our high-grade, commercial products are designed to kill weeds, not your lawn.
Pre-Emergent vs. Post-Emergent: The Winning Strategy
We don't just spray and hope for the best. We use a science-backed approach to keep your yard pristine:
- Pre-Emergent Weed Control: These act as a protective shield, preventing weed seeds from germinating and growing in the first place. This is the gold standard for crabgrass and poa annua prevention in the South.
- Post-Emergent Weed Control: For those stubborn weeds that have already popped through the surface, we use professional systemic treatments that target weeds without stressing your turf.
- Additional Specialty Controls: Our program includes targeted treatments for the toughest Southern invaders, including Nutsedge, Clover, and Crabgrass, ensuring your lawn stays uniform and healthy.
-
Why is my fertilizer not working?
Often, the culprit isn't the fertilizer—it’s the soil pH. Grass grows best in soil that has a pH close to neutral, or slightly acidic (between 6.0 and 7.0). Conditioning the soil for optimal grass health helps to improve lawn color, density, increase root development, and control thatch. We provide professional-grade soil conditioners to bring your lawn back into perfect balance–
- Lime Treatments (GA, NC, SC, TN): In the Southeast, soil is naturally acidic (low pH). We apply high-quality lime to "sweeten" the soil, unlocking vital nutrients and improving lawn density and root development.
- Sulfur Treatments (TX): In our Texas service areas, soils often lean toward being alkaline (high pH). We use specialized sulfur applications to lower the pH, ensuring your turf stays vibrant and resilient against the heat.
The Results: Balanced soil leads to thicker, greener grass, better thatch control, and a lawn that makes the most of every fertilization treatment.

-
Can you recommend an annual lawn fertilization schedule?
We recommend a seasonal approach. Start with pre-emergent weed control in late winter/early spring, follow up with growth-focused feedings in spring and summer, and finish with a fortifying fertilizer application in the fall to strengthen the root system and prepare the lawn for winter.
