Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers (and maybe a few surprises)
-
What lawn and tree services does Top Turf offer?
At Top Turf, we offer a full suite of lawn care and pest control solutions, including fertilization & weed control, lawn fungus treatment, core aeration, aeration & seeding, armyworm control, grub control, mole treatment, weed control for planting beds and tree & shrub care.
-
Why is my lawn full of weeds?
Weeds often thrive when grass is thin, stressed, or underfed, and when pre-emergent weed control has not been applied. Improving soil health, mowing correctly, and using targeted weed treatments helps grass outcompete weeds.
-
Are you affordable, and do you offer follow-up service if issues arise?
-
How quickly will I see results after starting lawn treatments?
Many customers notice healthier color and reduced weeds after the first few visits. Full transformation often takes a season or two, depending on your starting point and consistency of treatments.
-
How do I treat yellow or patchy spots in my lawn?
Yellow, patchy spots in your lawn can be caused by a number of things, including drought stress, compaction, poor drainage, rocky soil, or fungus. Each issue requires its own treatment plan. For example, drought stress can often be treated by increasing the amount of water your lawn receives, while a specific fungicide treatment may be required to treat lawn fungus.
-
Do you offer service bundles or year-round programs?
Yes! We provide year-round, seasonally tailored lawn care programs, plus bundle packages that combine multiple services for ongoing lawn health and protection.
-
What is the best lawn care service for a healthy lawn?
The best lawn care service includes a combination of fertilization and weed control, aeration, and regular mowing. Professional lawn care ensures your grass receives the nutrients and treatment it needs to stay green, thick, and pest-free.
-
Can lawn care improve my property value?
Yes — a healthy, well-maintained lawn increases curb appeal and can boost property value. Professional lawn care ensures your yard stays lush and attractive year-round.
-
When should I fertilize, and how often do I need to fertilize each year?
Fertilizing your lawn regularly throughout the year provides the best results for your grass. It keeps the proper nutrients available to the grass when they need it.
-
Do I need a soil test before applying fertilizer?
Typically, no. We have knowledge of the soil types in our lawn care treatment areas, so we only apply nutrients we know that grass in our areas need. Your soil will balance itself out through the treatments.
-
How much water does my lawn need, and how does watering impact fertilization and weed control?
Your lawn, just like you, needs water often. It does depend on seasonality, but most of the year, your lawn will require about 1 inch of water per week (including rainfall). Watering certainly helps with fertilization because many fertilizers must be watered in to be most effective. Additionally, many granular fertilizers benefit from water because it helps break down the fertilizer granules to release the nutrients into the soil.
-
How often should my lawn be mowed?
Most lawns benefit from weekly mowing during the growing season and less frequent cuts when growth slows. The ideal schedule can vary based on grass type, weather, and how short you like to keep your lawn.
-
Do I need to be home during lawn service?
You do not need to be home as long as gates are unlocked and pets are secured. You can request to be in our text-ahead program so that you get notified a day before services.
-
How much does professional lawn care cost?
Our pricing depends on yard size, and any additional services you may choose such as aeration or fungus control.
-
What pests do you treat?
We handle a wide variety, including ants, spiders, roaches, silverfish, earwigs, fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, wasps, and more. If it crawls, bites, stings, or makes you say “Nope,” chances are we take care of it.

-
Is the treatment safe for kids and pets?

-
Do I need pest control if I don’t see any bugs?
Preventive treatments help stop pests before they become visible, which reduces the chance of larger infestations and damage. This is especially important in areas where termites, roaches, or rodents are common.
-
What is the best pest control service for homes?
The best pest control service for homes is a combination of preventative exterior treatments and targeted interior applications. A professional technician can identify entry points, locate nesting sites, and use safe, effective products that homeowners can’t purchase over the counter.
-
Is pest control worth it compared to DIY treatments?
Yes — professional pest control is more effective because technicians use commercial-grade products and industry-specific methods that homeowners don’t have access to. DIY products often provide only temporary relief.
-
Why should I choose a professional pest control company?
A licensed pest control company provides expert diagnostics, safe application methods, longer-lasting results, ongoing monitoring, and customized treatment plans — all of which are critical for long-term pest protection.
