American Cockroach (Periplaneta americana)

Color: Reddish brown
Size: Average length is around 1.6 in and about 0.28 in tall.
Eggs: A females can produce an average of 150 young in her life time, which is one year.
Location: Basements, crawl spaces, cracks and crevices of porches, and around foundations.
Food: Feeds on decaying organic matter and a variety of other foods.
American Cockroach

Brown Banded (Supella longipalpa)

Color: Tan to light brown. It has two light-colored bands across the wings and abdomen.
Size: measuring about 5⁄8 in long.
Eggs: A female may produce 10 to 20 cases in her lifetime and each egg capsule can contain 14 to 16 eggs.
Location: Found in the northeastern, southern, and midwest regions of the United States.
Food: Wide array of items, often almost anything organic, including decaying matter.

German Cockroach (Blattella germanica)

Color: Can be tan through brown to almost black, and has two dark parallel streaks running from the head to the base of the wings.
Size: About 1.3 cm (0.51 in) to 1.6 cm (0.63 in) long
Eggs: A typical egg case contains 30 to 40 eggs. In one year over 10,000 descendants can be produced, assuming two generations per year.
Location: One of the most common and prominent household cockroaches in the world.
Food: They particularly like starch, sugary foods, grease and meats. They may eat household items such as soap, glue and toothpaste or they may even turn cannibalistic if there is a shortage.

German Cockroach


Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis)

Color: Dark brown to black in color and has a glossy body.
Size: About 1 in (2.5 cm) in length
Eggs: Can have up to eight egg capsules per lifetime and up to 16 individual eggs in the one case.
Location: Northwest, mid-west, and southern United States.
Food: Garbage, sewage, or decaying organic matter and will eat almost anything.
